By 2020 Gazprom and independent gas producers will be able to produce 850bn-900bn cubic meters of gas annually, Leonid Mikhelson, the General Director of NOVATEK, declared at an international gas forum held in Moscow today. According to him, by 2020 new gas producing companies, including oil companies, will manage to provide for some 200bn-250bn cubic meters of gas production per year.
According to the concept of Russia's energy strategy through 2020, Gazprom is planned to produce 530bn cubic meters of gas in 2020, independent gas producers are expected to produce 170bn cubic meters of gas. Last year Russia's gas production amounted to 561bn cubic meters.
