Kaliningrad Railways Awarded Gold Medal by Russian-Swiss Business Club

The Kaliningrad railway network has been awarded a gold medal by the Russian-Swiss Business Club for its spotless business reputation. According to the railway network's press office, the decision to award the gold made was taken by an expert committee made up of representatives of the Business Club, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), the Graduate Institute of Business and Management (Geneva) and a host of international companies.

In a letter to Viktor Budovsky, the head of the Kaliningrad railway network, RSPP president Arkady Volsky stressed that the award 'is not only an invitation to join the club, but will also serve as a kind of recommendation when working in Switzerland or other foreign countries.'

Budovsky said that 'international recognition of the Kaliningrad railway network's spotless business reputation is, first and foremost, the result of the work of all of employees, without exception. Over 2001 and 2002 they managed to handle 'explosive' quantities of freight in very difficult conditions and they are now continuing to increase the volume of freight we handle. This high assessment of our work will also increase the attractiveness of transport via Kaliningrad.'

The Russian-Swiss Business Club was founded in 1994 in Geneva and unites several dozen companies from Switzerland and Russia. It is supported by the Russian diplomatic mission to the UN in Geneva, the RSPP, and the Geneva Department of Public Economy. The Club's main work is providing mutual assistance and supporting an exchange of experience between its members. During its existence over 30 Russian companies and educational establishments have received its top award. The second annual award ceremony will take place in Geneva in early May.
