Vladimir Lukin, Vice-Speaker of the Russian State Duma, or the lower parliamentary house, has said the United States will come up against serious political problems when it starts rebuilding Iraq after the conflict.
When addressing a news conference at the Novosti agency, Mr Lukin said Americans would have to deal with a nearly completely ruined country.
There is still uncertainty about a would-be interim government of Iraq, added the MP. Will it involve representatives of various ethnicities and religions?
There are two scenarios of Iraq's post-war reconstruction, according to Mr Lukin. The first one envisages the United Nations' central role in the process. The other suggests the US should deal with the situation on its own.
