Three European ambassadors, accredited in Moscow, headed for a three-day trip to Chechnya and Ingushetia on Monday. Greek and Italian Ambassadors Dimitrios Paraskevopoulos and Facco Bonetti and deputy head of the European Commission's office in Moscow Vincent Picket are taking part in the trip, the office of the European Commission in Russia told RIA Novosti.
At first the diplomats will visit a camp of Chechen refugees in Ingushetia.
On Tuesday, the European representatives will meet the Chechen authorities, the Chechen prosecutor general and the chairman of the local election commission in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya. In addition, they are scheduled to visit the staff of Russian troops in Chechnya.
