A Tu-154 airliner made an emergency landing at the Nizhni Novgorod airport in the early hours of Saturday. The plane ran 180 m outside the runway before stopping. Neither the 133 passengers nor 10 crew were injured.
The reason behind the emergency landing has not been reported yet. Due to the incident the airport in Nizhni Novgorod, Russia's third largest city 500 km east of Moscow, has been temporarily closed down.
The plane belongs to the Russian Sibir airline and was flying from Moscow to Barnaul, an administrative centre of the Altai Territory, southeast Siberia.
