Foreign Minister on Norilsk Nickel acquisition plans in USA

Russia supports a purchase of the controlling stake in the US company Stillwater by Norilsk Nickel, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov declared today pointing out "this is an important deal". According to him, this question was discussed by the Presidents of the two countries. The minister expressed hope that events in the Persian Gulf would not influence this deal.

As reported earlier, at the end of last November Norilsk Nickel announced that it would buy a 51 percent block of shares in Stillwater for $341m ($7.5 per share).
