United States ready to stop the anti-dumping investigation with regard to Russian cold-rolled steel

The United States is ready to stop the anti-dumping investigation with regard to Russian cold-rolled steel which is being exported to the American market. US Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Import Faryar Shirzad spoke about it in Moscow on Friday.

According to him, appropriate negotiations are now being conducted with a number of Russian producers who deliver their products to the United States, in particular, with the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Mill and the Severstal joint-stock company in the Urals.

The holding of negotiations between US administration officials and Russian producers concerned is the consequence of the recognition of Russia by the American side as a country with a market economy, said Faryar Shirzad. Before granting to Russia a market status negotiations were conducted between appropriate ministries of the two countries.

The spokesman for the US Department of Commerce said that the agreement on stopping the anti-dumping investigation concerning the export of Russian cold-rolled steel could be drafted in late in August.

Faryar Shirzad also said that at the present time the United States and Russia continued drafting an agreement on exporting Russian steel slabs (a type of metal products) to the American market. In case this document is signed, the annual export of Russian slabs to the United States will increase by 250,000 tons.
