Russian Premier: Russia, South Africa see eye to eye on majority of international problems

Russia and the Republic of South Africa see eye to eye on the majority of international problems, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov said as meeting South Africa's Foreign Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Friday.

The premier is pleased with the current pace of development of relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Africa, the governmental information department told reporters Friday. The two countries' political dialogue is developing and strengthening, noted Mr Kasyanov.

"We are hopeful the committee for bilateral economic cooperation, which is co-chaired by Russian Vice-Premier Valentina Matviyenko, will resume its activities shortly," said Mr Kasyanov. South Africa is expected to host the first meeting of the committee in November. The meeting will discuss prospects for trade and business, and humanitarian contacts between Russia and that African republic.

Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma thanked Russia for a warm reception. The Moscow meetings testify to a huge potential of partnership between Russia and the Republic of South Africa, said the foreign minister.
