Government commission set up to investigate helicopter crash

The government has set up a commission of emergencies ministry officials and Interstate Aviation Committee representatives to investigate the circumstances of the July 10th helicopter crash on Asia's northernmost peninsula of Taimyr, reported Viktor Beltsov, who heads the press service at the Russian emergencies ministry.

The commission leaves the town of Dickson on Friday, said Beltsov. Once on the site of the crash, it will be faced with the task of decoding the so-called "black boxes," the devices that register the aircraft's flight parameters and the crew's voices.

The commission is accompanied by forensic study experts, who will examine the bodies of the 9 crew and 12 geologists that were killed in the crash, which took place 110 kilometres away from Eclipse Bay /the helicopter's original destination/.
