A teenager obsessed by vampires attacked a 90-year-old widow in her house, slashing her arteries and drinking her blood, before cutting out her heart to achieve immortality…but was declared not insane at court.
Last November a 17-year-old male attacked 90-year-old widow Mabel Leyshon at the Welsh village of Llanfair PG, (whose full name is Llanfairpwllgwyngwyllgogery-chwyrndrobwllllantisiliogogogogh, this being the longest place name in Britain) after breaking into her home, as she was watching TV.
He stabbed her 22 times, made deep slashes to her leg arteries, collected her blood in a saucepan, drank it, then cut out her heart to make a vampire sacrifice and thus achieve immortality.
He had previously attacked a German student staying in the village, begging her to bite his neck, convinced she was a vampire. When caught, he claimed that he felt centuries-old energies building up inside him, which he felt compelled to release.
Declaring that Llanfair PG was a perfect place for vampires, because there was a large population of old people and if they died nobody would notice, the murderer had admitted that he was obsessed with vampires.
The prosecuting Queen’s Councillor, Roger Thomas, declared to the court that the youth was not insane and that this was not a medical issue.
That someone this ill could be walking around in the community and that a senior lawyer could declare him not insane, is absolutely terrifying and a sad comment on both the British health authorities and the criminal justice system.
