General director of the International Labour Organization Juan Somavia believes that "the main drawback of globalization is inability to create jobs", he said after his talks with Russian labour and social development minister Alexander Pochinok.
Today the unemployment rate in the world is very high, one billion of people are unemployed, partially employed or work for a scanty salary, according to Somavia.
"We should make sure that globalization provides people with jobs, otherwise its value will be questionable," the ILO director said.
Globalization will allow to expand information exchange, communications and intercultural cooperation, but it comprises both positive and negative elements, Somavia pointed out. The task is to use the positive ones, though it does not always happen so, he added.
