RTS index may go up to 400 points

As analysts point out, Dow Jones reacted painfully to the decrease in consumer sentiment, calculated by Michigan University, and dropped by 1.33 percent. On the whole, Dow Jones fell more over the past week than over the previous ten months.

Experts believe that the consumer optimism is currently the weakest point of the American economy due to the fall in the stock market, an increase in the unemployment rate. However, consumers have not cut their purchases so far, which was confirmed by the good sales figures in June and an increase in forecasts for Wal-Mart, the largest supermarket network in the USA. Specialists are not inclined to overestimating the importance of the Michigan University index, because as the demand for man power starts growing in the economy again, so corporate earnings will go up, too. Experts consider the US forecast to remain reasonably optimistic.

Analysts believe that the results of Friday's meeting of RAO UES board of directors should be considered regarding an increase in state influence on the company. Experts say that the government is obviously dissatisfied with a decrease in the control of the board of director where representatives of state dominate, over the sales of state assets. Additionally, the government pointed to the necessity of 'harmonizing' the restructuring of the electric energy industry with adopting corresponding laws. Analysts consider this news reasonably positive for the RAO UES share price in the short term, but an increase in uncertainty and lack of clarity about the terms and contents of the reform will frighten away long-term investors from the industry's shares. However, in short term RAO UES shares are better than the market.

In the opinion of experts, the rumors about shareholders selling 8 percent of the Sibneft oil company stocks have sound grounds, as an increase in the share of stocks in free circulation is a part of the company's strategy. However, structuring the process into a number of stages seems logical in order not to cause the issuer market to collapse. As far as the dynamics, the level of expenditures and management professionalism are concerned, Sibneft is the best company in the industry, and the work on an increase in capitalization is likely to be top-priority for shareholders. Analysts consider Sibneft shares to be higher than the market in the long term.

Rostelecom shares grew by over 4 percent on Friday and currently show more correlation with European telecommunications companies. This is why the growth of Deutshe Telecom was a signal for buying Rostelecom shares. However, the volatility and obvious 'speculativeness' of its shares make Rostelecom a highly risky investment instrument.

On the whole, experts remain reasonably optimistic about the market and believe that this summer, the RTS index will reach 400 points again. In the opinion of specialists, the plans of a number of issuers to increase the transparency of their activities, may influence investors positively. In this respect, the wish of the AvtoVAZ car producer to enter the ADR market is significant, this information released by the Vedomosti newspaper today. In the short term, AvtoVAZ is better than the market, experts believe.
