An exhibition of arms, military equipment and ammunition in Nizhny Tagil can gradually replace the Farnborough show, Alexander Dondukov, a Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council's /the lower chamber of the Russian legislature/ Defence and Security Committee, was quoted as saying.
According to him, the interest in the British show is decreasing because of high participation fees its organisers establish. Other international arms shows are also losing their positions due to the same cause.
The Nizhny Tagil test ground gives a unique opportunity to demonstrate the performance of military equipment both on the ground, in the air and, following the construction of a waterdrome, on water.
According to Dondukov, Russia has many designs, which are 90-95% ready. Some Russian knows-how, glass armour, for instance, will be leaving foreign manufactures behind for another 10-15 years.
About 30,000 people have visited the show and organisers had to issue additional tickets.
