A unique spacecraft has been launched from the Russian Ryazan submarine. Aide to the Russian Navy, Commander-in-Chief Igor Dygalo reported on Friday that the launch of the Demonstrator-2 descend module was performed in the Barents Sea from a submerged position. The spacecraft, which is equipped with an inflatable landing system, has been designed to deliver cargo back to Earth from a space station and to land on other planets, Dygalo said.
The space vehicle was delivered to the orbit by means of the Russian Volna booster, a modification of the RSM-50 ballistic missile.
According telemetric data, the Demonstrator-2 has successfully entered the orbit and subsequently the Earth's atmosphere. The official added that all data obtained during this experiment will be used to develop a new generation of descend modules.
