Norwegian Telenor Group Seeks to Purchase Another Part of Ukrainian Kievstar

The Norwegian Telenor communications group intends to purchase another part of Ukrainian Kievstar GSM cellular communications operator. According to Telenor's press service, after buying 16.5% of Kievstar from the Sputnik Funds investors, Telenor's share in Kievstar will grow to 61.9%. The estimated value of this transaction is USD 66.5 million.

At this time, Kievstar's customers number 1.5 million. The company is one of the largest cellular communications operators in Ukraine, accounting for 50.1% of the market. Telenor says 6% of all Ukraine's citizens own cellular telephones.
