Fifty-eight workers will join the continuing strike in the service sector on Saturday. This will increase the total number of employees on strike to a total of 392 members of Norway's oil and petrochemical union.
According to the Norwegian Oil Industry Association (OLF) the strike will hit targeted companies hard and have noticeable consequences for a range of planned drilling operations on the Norwegian shelf. The OLF believes there is a real danger of a long industrial dispute. The oil service agreement affects about 3,500 employees working in about 30 firms.
