Today, near the Russian city of Nizhny Tagil, the Russian Expo Arms - 2002 international arms exhibition opened to public. According to the press service of the administration of the Sverdlovsk Region, the exhibition is held under the auspices of Rosoboronexport, Russia's governmental arms-exporting agency and the regional administration.
While speaking at the opening ceremony, Eduard Rossel, Governor of the Sverdlovsk region, thanked the guests, participants, and organisers of the exhibition and Sergei Mironov, Chairman of the Council of Federation of Russia who 'despite his hectic schedules found the time to come'. After that, Sergei Mironov; Zinovii Pak, General Director of Russia's Ammunition Agency; parliamentarian Vladimir Zhirinovsky; and Nikolai Didenko, the Mayor of the city of Nizhny Tagil, also spoke.
Mr. Rossel said, 'This is an exciting moment. Here, the best specimens of Russia's armaments are about to be shown. The goal we set for ourselves three years ago has been reached. There is a governmental exhibition centre in Mid-Urals for showing arms and military machinery .
