Chairman of the Federation Council Sergei Mironov visited the Ural optical machine plant during his visit to the Sverdlovsk region (the Urals).
He was shown the shop which produces optical electronic systems and new production lines which had been installed as the plant was being modernised.
The plant's director general Eduard Yalamov said that in the past two years the plant was conducting a large-scale modernisation. Only last year about ten million dollars were spent on modernising the military production. This year, the investments will increase. According to the director general, the investments are ensured by export contracts and by the credit resources of the biggest Russian banks.
The director general also discussed with Sergei Mironov the problems of the Russian legislation in the sphere of returning hard currency earnings in exporting machine-building high-tech products.
