MiG strikes contract with Slovakian Air Force

The Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG signed a frame agreement with the Slovakian Defense Ministry for the restoration of the air-worthiness of a MiG-29 fleet owned by the Slovakian Air Forces. As RBC got to know from the corporation, eighteen MiG fighters will be repaired at an enterprise based in Trencin under the supervision of Russian specialists, who have scrutinized the technical condition of the planes and suggested a set of measures to extend their lifetime.

Apart from the fleet repair, Russia offered the program of MiG upgrading in accordance with NATO standards to Slovakia. The country is hoping to join this military organization in 2002. A contract signed by MiG and the Slovakian Defense Ministry is to be completed by the end of 2003. The Slovakia-owned MiGs will be modernized subsequently

Earlier the Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG won tenders for the restoration of MiG-29 belonging to Hungary and Bulgaria.
