The Federation Council (the upper chamber of Russian parliament) believes that State Duma-adopted (the lower parliamentary chamber) law On Opposing Extremist Activities is imperfect.
However, senators say, this law has to be approved.
The law is "not ideal", first vice-speaker of the upper chamber Valeri Goreglyad told reporters. Particularly, senators do not like its certain clauses on the electronic media.
Simultaneously, he stressed that the upper chamber is "aware of the political importance of the law and, therefore, it has to be adopted from the political point of view". The anti-extremism law must be improved later on, said Goreglyad.
