As Israeli army sources reported, one-fourth of the premises, where some 15 Palestinian guerrillas were thought to be for the last four days, was destroyed as a result of the explosion of the city administration building in Hebron. Israel has been bombing the Palestinian headquarters for two days already. At first, Israeli military men tried to attack the building with aviation and demolish its walls with bulldozers. However, those attempts were spent for nothing.
The building was built very well during the period of the British period, and it looked more like a fortress than a house for city officials. The Israelis used several tons of explosives to blow up the walls of the headquarters. For the time being, it is not known if there were any suspects in the building, but Israeli spokesmen said to the AP that nobody has been found yet, either dead or alive. However, according to information from an Israeli radio station, 15 Palestinian guerrillas could be buried under the rubble.
A spokesman for the Palestinian administration Abu Zaki state4d that the west-eastern part of the building had been destroyed, the part thatwas adjacent to the living quarters. The WAFA Palestinian agency reports that the blast seriously damaged tens of buildings nearby.
