Shareholders of RAO Norilsk Nickel decided to approve dividend payments on preferred and common shares for 2001. A dividend payment is to be RUR1.72 ($0.054) per share. The company's retained profits were 569.718m rubles ($18.32m) in 2001, which was 210.922m rubles ($6.8m) more than in 2000. Interim dividend payments were made in 2001 and were equivalent to the 2001 annual payment totaling 325.8m rubles ($10.48m). So the shareholder meeting decided not to make an additional payment, which was in accordance with the board of directors' recommendation.
The company's authorized capital is 47.25m rubles (about $1.5m) and it is divided into 176,655,827 common and 12,344,047 preferred A-shares with a nominal value of RUR0.25 ($0.008) per share. A 96.93 percent block of shares in RAO Norilsk Nickel belongs to JSC MMC Norilsk Nickel.
