Prices for AvtoVAZ cars to increase 0.95% on average today

Beginning with today, AvtoVAZ is introducing new retail prices for its cars, according to the press center of the company. The prices of the entire model range are set to grow 0.95 percent on average. Unchanged will remain retail prices for VAZ-21053, all VAZ-2115 models, Niva VAZ-21213, VAZ-21214 and VAZ-2131. The lowest increase - RUR1,000 (around $31.77) - will take place in prices for VAZ-2107 "standard" models, "normal" VAZ-21093, VAZ-21103 (except for VAZ-21103T) "standard" models, "normal" VAZ-21113 as well as "normal" VAZ-2112.

Among the models assembled at the main assembly line of AvtoVAZ the biggest increase in retail prices - RUR3,000 (around $95.32) - will be for VAZ-21043 and VAZ-21099. As it was reported earlier, the retail prices for VAZ cars grew6.74 percent in the first half-year of 2002. Vladimir Kuchai, Vice President for Marketing, Sales and Technical Maintenance of the company, was quoted as saying that according to the price-fixing program that was developed by the company, with a view to the inflation rate in the country, the company is planning to increase retail prices for its cars by 11 percent in 2002.
