Svetlana Goryacheva of the State Duma, or the lower house of the Russian parliament, thinks the June 24 car accident in the center of Moscow might have been an attempt on her life.
The attempt might have been prompted by her engagement with a bill which steps up criminal responsibility for seduction, depravation, and sexual exploitation of teenagers.
The State Duma passed the bill in the first reading on Thursday. Immediately after that, Goryacheva told journalists that she had asked investigating bodies to look into the case with the car accident to find out if it wasn't an attempt on her life.
While working on the aforementioned bill, she was repeatedly threatened and told to drop the bill, Goryacheva said.
As of today, owners of the country's porn industry may act with impunity and not be sued -- take the scandalous case of the so-called Blue Orchid, an illegal porn factory that produced videotapes with scenes of sexual violence committed against children. Arrested by police, the criminals /who supplied their "goods" to the Internet/ were released from custody in court.
