The motorship Vysokogorsk of the Far Eastern Sea Navigation Company has been trapped by ice off the northern coast of the Chukot Peninsula.
According to the company's directorate, the ship was bound for the Krest Gulf but got trapped in thick ice blocking the entrance to the bay. It is now slowly making its way towards the water.
The Vysokogorsk is loaded with 180 large-tonnage containers with sets of houses for the Chukot Trading Company.
The motorships Vysokogorsk and Abakan have opened this year's season of arctic navigation. All in all, cargoes for the Northeastern Sector of the Arctic Regions will be transported by 25 dry cargo ships and tankers from the Far Eastern and Primorye navigation companies.
