RAO UES may sell its enterprises to YUKOS

RAO UES is about to start selling its stations, the Nezavisimaya Gazeta newspaper reported. According to some sources, the energy holding signed a strategic agreement with YUKOS a month ago. The parameters of the agreement are still secret. However it is known that the oil company is interested in the energy system of the Tomsk region, in Belgorodenergo, Krasnoyarskenergo and Tambovenergo. The agreement stipulates that RAO UES is to consider YUKOS's proposal to buy some energy generating companies and in return the oil company is to support the energy holding's restructuring activity. Assets of the energy companies will be sold in the event the buyer invests in the development of these enterprises. Earlier YUKOS's head Mikhail Khodorkovsky planned to buy the whole stake in Tomskenergo, but RAO UES is going to sell only a 25 percent block of the shares in its energy generating companies. So the energy holding tries to solve the problem of attracting investments partially with the help of domestic partners.
