Chairman of United Energy Systems of Russia to Speak before European Parliament on Russia's Power Production, Distribution Reform

Next Monday, June 24, Anatoly Chubais, the Chairman of the Board of The United Energy Systems (UES) of Russia will deliver his report Moving Toward the Liberalisation and Integration of the Post-Soviet and European Electricity Markets before the Parliament of Europe. Mr. Chubais intends to familiarise European parliamentarians with the content and progress of Russia's reform of power production and distribution and the ways the UES brings in foreign investments.

Mr. Chubais will present the position of Russia and the CIS states as to the creation of a Eurasian power association. The functioning of the power systems of the CIS states and the Baltic republics in parallel with the TESIS synchronised trans-European power system uniting Western, Central, and Eastern Europe will allow optimising loads and improve overall effectiveness due to a more rational distribution of power resources.
