A mammoth tusk was found in the Berezovka district of the Krasnoyarsk territory, Eastern Siberia. The paleontological discovery was made by Yury Kindyakov, a bulldozer operator who worked on a dam on the Karakusha Brook.
All works near the brook were suspended in anticipation of more discoveries. In fact, it is possible that there a skeleton of the prehistoric animal might be buried there.
The tusk was handed over to the local Museum of Regional Studies, which already possesses mammoth bones, the skeleton of an ancient rhinoceros, and the horns of a prehistoric moose, all of which were found on the territory of the district. According to Vladimir Kozhevnikov, who heads the museum, the discovery of a mammoth tusk was reported to paleontologists of the Krasnoyarsk Museum of Local Lore, History and Economy.
