Russia may win a 25 percent share of the world meat trade by 2025, Musheg Mamimokyan, Chairman of the Russian Meat Union, said at the 'The Development of Agriculture and Industry of Russia' conference. He pointed out that over a long haul (15-25 years) Russia may export around 2-3 million tons of meat and meat products every year. This forecast, according to Mamimokyan, is due to the fact that in the event the crop capacity stabilizes in Russia, Russia will have substantial excesses of fodder grain, which will enable it to increase the level of its stock raising. The Chairman of the Russian Meat Union stressed that even today around 20-30 million tons of grain, according to the estimates of the Russian Meat Union, might be used as a basis for developing grain and meat exports. He believes that by 2010 Russia may consume around 10 million tons of meat and meat products every year, while Russia's imports will amount to more than 2 million tons. The forecasted structure of meat consumption by that time will be as follows: poultry - 45 percent, pork - 35 percent, beef - 17 percent, mutton - 3 percent.
