'We would like to move away from dealing with political questions, and direct more attention to questions of scientific cooperation', announced the Chairman of the State Fishing Committee of the Russian Federation, Evgenii Nazdratenko, at the opening of the seventh conference of ministers of the fishing countries of the North Atlantic. According to him, the power of the fishing fleet is greater than the possibilities of the Pacific Ocean, so at present it's essential to create a united model for calculating the ocean's bioprocesses.
Directors of the fishing departments of Russia, Norway, Iceland, Canada, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands, and agents of EU countries will be taking part in the conference. The Russian delegation will be led by Evgenii Nazdratenko. It's intended that participants of the meeting will deal with a wide range of questions concerning international collaboration in the field of marine science investigations and application of new technology in the trade regions of the North Atlantic.
The North Atlantic is one of the most important fishing region for the countries taking part in the conference. Trade in the North Atlantic provides work for fisherman in the whole north-western area of Russia: St. Petersburg, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk and Karelia.
