According to Christian Ramm-Schmidt, the President of the European Baltic Beverages Holding (BBH), in 2002, the holding intends to boost by 25% to 30% on the year the output of Russian breweries it controls or owns. Over the first quarter this year, their output has already gone up by 37% on the year. Although withholding the exact figures, Mr. Ramm-Schmidt said the total output of the BBH in 2001 had amounted to 24 million hectalitres, 80% of which was produced in Russia.
The Baltic Beverages Holding was founded in 1991. Most of its stock belongs to Hartwall and Carlsberg concerns. It owns 13 breweries in the Baltic states, Ukraine, and Russia.
