Baku-Supsa Oil Pipeline Partially Reconstructed Says BP

The “Partial reconstruction of the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline has been completed. The aim of this work was to increase its capacity. Now 145,000 barrels of oil per day can be transported via this pipeline,” said the President of BP Azerbaijan.

The Managing Director of BP and the Chief Executive of BP's global exploration and production business, Richard Oliver, said that the increase in the capacity of the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline would not affect the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, which is due to be commissioned in three years. Both oil pipelines can operate at a profit they have said.

The BP oil company has recently completed an assessment of the oil reserves of their structures and the results exceeded expectations. It was previously assumed that the volume of reserves to be extracted at Azari-Ciraq-Gunasli stood at 4.6bn barrels of oil, but according to the latest data, this volume amounts to 5.3bn barrels.

Over one million barrels of oil per day will be produced. This is enough oil to justify the existence of two oil pipelines.
