Over the past three days another 6 patients with suspected Crimean haemorrhagic fever were delivered to district hospitals in the Stavropol territory (North Caucasus). According to the report of the operative duty officer of the regional civil defense and emergencies department, the number of hospitalized people amounted to 20, including 6 children. Two doctors from the Krasnogvardeisk region who were treating the boy who died of that illness were recently admitted to the territorial infection hospital. The government of the Stavropol territory is viewing the emerging situation as an extremely serious. All necessary measures are being taken to prevent and treat the potentially deadly disease. Crimean haemorrhagic fever is caused by stings of field tick - a virus carrier.
