Participation in the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) should not prevent its members from joining the WTO. This statement was made by EAEC Secretary General Grigory Rapota at the Wednesday press conference in the Russian Information Agency Novosti. In its turn, he stressed, the accession to this international organisation should not harm EAEC comprising Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan, of which only Kyrgyzstan has become a WTO member. According to Rapota, perfection of the interstate cooperation mechanism while joining the WTO will be one of the key issues on the agenda of the forthcoming regular session of the EAEC Interstate Council at the level of presidents of member-countries scheduled for May 13 in Moscow. The session is expected to result in signing 9-10 documents, Rapota reported. The EAEC Interstate Council will consider a total of 19 issues, including organisational and legal ones, draft fundamentals of the Community border policy, budget message, approval of the emblem and flag of this new international organisation. Sessions of the EAEC Interstate Council at the level of presidents of member-countries are held once a year.
