An international conference "On the way to stable development and civil society: regional environmental policy" is to open in the Russian city of Kaliningrad on the Baltic Sea as part of the Russian-Swedish project "Ecoman". The project is being fulfilled within the framework of bilateral cooperation between the Municipalities Union of the province of Halland (Sweden) and the Kaliningrad regional Duma (Russia), said Boris Shushkin, a Russian coordinator of the project. The Kaliningrad final concept of working out environmental legislation and methodology of creating regulatory documents in other law-making spheres will be discussed. Prominent environmentalists from Russia, Sweden and Lithuania will present their reports to the conference. It is for the first time that the Kaliningrad region will host a discussion of the regional environmental policy. Before it starts, the participants will have a tour around Kaliningrad, visit the World Ocean museum and other historic and vitally important places of the region.
