The Macedonian army started Wednesday afternoon a new attack on Albanian extremists' positions near the village of Slupchane, to the west of Kumanovo. According to the RIA Novosti correspondent, Blagoje Markovski, spokesman for the general headquarters of the Macedonian army, reported the beginning of the operation. According to him, army units deliver fire from artillery guns and tanks at dugouts, and machine-gun and sniper shelters. The attack began after the deadline of the ultimatum imposed by Macedonian authorities to Albanian extremists was over. It was offered to them to go out of a number of villages near Kumanovo until 10:00 local time, and to surrender.
