Chechen thugs reportedly fired a light anti-tank rocket launcher against the Russian Interior Ministry's organized-crime department for Chechnya in Gudermes the other day, injuring one police officer. According to the headquarters of the Russian Interior Ministry's North Caucasus force, the bandits fired five or six shots from that rocket launcher. Eight policemen were guarding the building at the time of the attack; for his own part, detective Islam Akhtayev (b. 1972) was wounded as a result of that attack. The police officers didn't return the fire; meanwhile the police are now doing their best to locate and arrest the culprits. The Russian Interior Ministry's North Caucasus units were subjected to rocket-launcher and small-firearms fire on four occasions over the last 24 hours.
