The head of the teaching department of school No.1 in the village of Valerik of Achkhoi-Martan district of Chechnya has been murdered. The press-service of the administration of the Chechen Republic reported that last night unidentified people shot from a sub-machine gun and killed Ahmad Tovbulatov in his own house. The motives of the murder are so far unknown, a criminal case has been opened and investigation has begun. The press service stressed that Tovbulatov was a fierce opponent of Wahhabism, a religious trend in Islam. He commanded great prestige among the local population, and was merited teacher of the Russian Federation. It was reported on Wednesday that in the village of Kirov-Yurt, Vedeno district of Chechnya, Chechen gunmen had killed seven local residents -- six men and a teen-ager. A torn-up note with a typed text in Russian -- the death sentence passed by the Sharia court -- was found in the house of Ramzan Ilesov, one of the killed men.
