Russian Premier Mikhail Kasyanov has signed a resolution on the long-term programme of development of trade, economic, industrial, scientific and technological cooperation between the Russian Federation and Egypt. According to the governmental information department, the programme stipulates that the governments of the two countries undertake necessary measures to boost bilateral trade turnover, use in the mutual interests their natural and energy resources, construct, restore and expand various objects, establish joint ventures, share technological and scientific achievements, and train specialists in various areas. Among the most acceptable forms of near-term cooperation is participation of Russian and Egyptian organizations and companies in designing and construction of industrial, energy, agricultural and other objects, especially export-oriented objects, as well as transfer of technologies, sale and acquisition of patents, licences, know-how, implementation of joint research projects and technological development. Establishment of joint capital enterprises in various areas of economy was also indicated among cooperation options.
