Russia And Gabon's Foreign Ministers For Strengthening United Nations' Pivotal Role

The foreign ministers of Russia and Gabon have emphasised the urgent need to form a genuine democratic system in international relations and to strengthen the pivotal role of the UN /United Nations/ and its Security Council in maintaining peace. Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov said as much Wednesday after a meeting with his counterpart from Gabon Jean Ping. The Russian minister added that the sides had spoken for developing the Russia-Gabon dialogue and reinforcing cooperation on the international arena. According to Igor Ivanov, the negotiations revealed the broad potential of bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic, science and technical and cultural domains. Summing up the negotiations, the two ministers signed a protocol on consultations between their ministries.
