Russia's future will depend on high-tech projects, Russian premier Mikhail Kasyanov told Russian journalists on Sunday when he arrived in the German city of Hannover, where, today, he will attend the opening ceremony of the International Industrial Fair. According to RIA Novosti correspondent, Mikhail Kasyanov underlined that Russia intended to render state support to businessmen who develop the economy's high-tech areas. " Russia's appropriate place in the international division of labor will ensure that it has a competitive edge in the rapidly changing world" - noted the Prime Minister. Mikhail Kasyanov pointed out that on Monday he would attend the opening ceremony of the Days of Russia' economy in Hannover. At the fair, Russia will be represented by 82 firms, which specialize in the high-tech sphere and defense industry. The Premier expressed confidence that "the contacts of the national business at the fair will result in solid contracts". In his reply to the question of RIA Novosti as to whether the Russian premier would have a meeting at the fair, already on Sunday, with the Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schroeder, Mikhail Kasyanov said that a meeting on most substantive issues with the head of Germany's government would be held on Monday in Berlin. It is for the first time since 1998 that Russia is represented at the Hannover fair at such a high level.
