An Indian candidate is preparing for a new campaign after losing all 44 of his previous attempts to be elected to office. K Padmarajan, from Mettur, has filed his nomination papers for the Tamil Nadu state assembly elections and for a local council by-election. He says his ambition is to get into the Guinness Book Of Records as the most unsuccessful politician ever. A Guinness spokesman said they would be interested in hearing from him. Padmarajan has filed his 45th and 46th election nomination papers as an independent candidate. He owns a tyre retreading business, Ananova.com reports. A Guinness Book Of Records spokesman said: "We would be interested in hearing from him - but we'd have to look into the claims."
