Last Friday and last night check-points and posts of Interior Ministry troops of the Russian army in Grozny and its surroundings were shelled three times. In all cases servicemen opened return fire. According to the report of the provisional press center of the Interior Ministry in the North Caucasus, they suffered no casualties. On Friday the Interior Ministry's units conducted three special operations to check the passport regime in the Lenin district of Grozny, in Dargo and Serzhen-Yurt settlements (Chechnya). In the course of the special operations they seized 1 machine gun, 8 hunting rifles, 3 grenade launchers, 9 mines, 12 grenades, over 400 cartridges, 1 radio station and 4 vehicles. Seven citizens of Chechnya were detained on suspicion of involvement in illegal armed formations, 72 people were detained for passport regime violations. Eleven vehicles were seized because their drivers had no documents.
