Will regions of Russia secure NTV independence?

President of the Russia’s republic of Bashkiria Murtaza Rakhimov came forward with a new proposal. His idea is that regional leaders of the territories, there NTV broadcasts, should buy blocking share holding of NTV. According to the spokesman, from that moment the channel will belong to Russia. And the dispute “who is right, and is to blame” will be over, because it will not make sense any more. “The independence of the national channel should be secured by Russian regions, but not by foreign investors”, Bashkir President said. What is needed is a law, limiting the possibility of buying-up of national channels by foreigners and a ban on possession of control stock, Murtaza Rakhimov said. The State Duma deputes are already working at the realisation of Rakhimov’s proposals.
