It happened yesterday in a roadside cafe near Osman-Yurt village in Russia’s Caucasian republic of Daghestan. Tukhchar Nurmagomedov, 24, entered the cafe, pulled out a grenade and took Madina Rashidova, 20, a cafe worker, hostage. Then he announced: “If she doesn’t marry me, I will blow up the grenade.” Police was called in. However, the negotiations failed, and the grenade was detonated. Surprisingly, no one was killed – both “lovers” were just wounded and shell-shocked, and admitted to a nearby hospital. Despite the incident’s romanticism, a prosaic criminal investigation is unavoidable.
