Deputy Prime Minister Ilya Klebanov believes it is premature to say how Russia may respond to the implementation of the US's National Missile Defence (NMD) plans. He commented on Friday about the assumptions of several experts that Russia, together with China, may develop their own missile defence system as a response to the NMD. "The main problem is the possible withdrawal of the Untied States from the ABM treaty. But so far it is premature to say what the counter-measures may be," he said. "It is useless trying to intimidate anyone today. The United States should be convinced that their plans are tilting the world balance," Interfax cites Klebanov as saying.
