Austrian police took by storm anarchists’ “centre” in the Vienna district of Faworitten. The action was undertaken after anarchists had made riots in the centre of the capital during the ball in Viennese Opera. As a result 17 policemen were wounded. In the anarchists’ “centre” an ammunition depot and a workshop for the weapons repair were found. According to a spokesman for the police, anarchists (so-called "hauts", from "haus" (chaos)) did not show resistance during the storm. To all appearances, they were too tired after the riots. After a few dozens of anarchists had been arrested, Vienna burgomaster Michail Heuple said, addressing the population of the city, that violence would never be practised in Vienna.
