Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President George W. Bush became acquainted with each other during a friendly telephone talk which took place yesterday, a spokesperson for the US Presidential National Security Council has told RIA Novosti news agency. According to the spokesperson, during this conversation both presidents pointed out the importance of cooperation between them through dialogue. The spokesperson for the White House also said that the two presidents had exchanged letters in which they touched upon a broad range of issues. After taking presidential office, George W. Bush has made a number of calls to the world leaders. On Tuesday, he said he considered it important to maintain good personal relations with the heads of foreign states and intends to continue making such calls in the future.
