400,000 crimes are committed in the world every day, General of the Army Anatoly Kulikov, chairman of the World Anti-Criminal and Anti-Terrorist Forum said. He added that if in the near future the governments did not take efficient measures, the organised crime would sweep our planet. According to Anatoly Kulikov, in the past thirty years crime rate in the world has grown four-fold: in the former Soviet Union and the USA - 8-fold, in Great Britain and in Sweden - 7-fold, in Japan - it has doubled. According to the data of the International Monetary Fund, said Anatoly Kulikov, from 500 billion to 1.5 trillion dollars are being laundered in the world every year. This sum amounts to five percent of the World Gross Product. About 80 billion dollars are spent on bribing officials and politicians, RIA Novosti reports. Every year transnational criminal communities illegally transport more than one million illegal migrants. The incomes from this criminal activity top 3.5 billion dollars. The developing countries spend up to 14 percent of their Gross Domestic Product on combatting crime, the industrialised countries - five percent. These figures have a stable tendency to increase, said Anatoly Kulikov.
