The generating unit No.2 has been stopped at the Smolensk nuclear plant in central Russia. The unit was stopped automatically at 6:42 Moscow time today due to a detected malfunction, officials at Russia’s state committee for atomic energy (Rossenergoatom) say. The cause of the malfunction is currently being identified, according to RIA Novosti news agency. There is no danger to the plant’s safe operation, Rossenerogoatom contends.
